Overview
Controlled Firing Areas (CFAs) contain activites that could be hazardous to nonparticipating aircraft. Controlled firing areas use ground lookouts, spotter aircraft, or radar to search for nonparticipating aircraft that may be entering the area. If an aircraft enters the CFA, the activities will be suspended until the other aircraft leaves the area. Because nonparticipating aircraft do not need to change their flight path, CFAs are not charted.
