Overview
Often called a "Biennial" Flight Review, or simply "BFR", a pilot is required to have one accomplished within the previous 24 calendar months in order to act as Pilot in Command (PIC). However, if the pilot has passed a practical test within that time frame, they are not required to complete a flight review. The purpose of the flight review is to ensure that a pilot is maintaining his or her skills and knowledge well beyond the time of being awarded their certificate or rating.
