Maximum Lift-Drag Ratio (L/DMAX)

Overview

When an aircraft is flying at L/DMAX, multiple things occur that are useful and important to pilots. The airspeed at which this occurs in an aircraft is known as the minimum drag speed. The airspeed at which L/DMAX changes based on aircraft altitude, weight, and configuration.

Examples

What happens at L/DMAX?
Maximum Endurance for jet-powered aircraft
Maximum Range for propeller-driven aircraft
Maximum Climb Angle for jet-powered aircraft
Maximum Glide Range for all aircraft
