Military Operation Area (MOA)

Overview

A Military Operation Area (MOA) is airspace defined for the purpose of separating certain military activities from IFR traffic. If ATC can provide separation from the activity within the MOA, IFR aircraft may be cleared through a MOA; otherwise, they will be routed or vectored around it. Aircraft operating under VFR may enter a MOA without a clearance. However, they should be very vigilant for high speed military aircraft operations.
